Thought Leadership and Positioning Strategy
for faculty, researchers, academic leaders, experts, and higher ed teams seeking a sharper point of view, stronger positioning, and clearer public voice.
Thought Leadership Design Intensives • Messaging & Positioning Critiques
Does your expertise sound as distinctive as it actually is?
Higher ed is full of expertise worth sharing: research, teaching, public scholarship, institutional knowledge, program leadership, community work, and ideas that can shape conversations far beyond campus.
But that expertise does not always translate easily into public-facing content.
Faculty may have a body of work but no clear thought leadership platform. Centers and institutes may have research, events, fellows, reports, and programs, but no cohesive public narrative. Academic leaders may know what their work stands for, but struggle to explain it in ways that resonate beyond internal audiences or disciplinary peers.
The issue is not the quality of the expertise.
It is how that expertise is being translated, framed, and shared.
You already have the raw materials: knowledge, experience, research, judgment, teaching, leadership, and a way of seeing your field that no one else has.
You need a clearer way to turn those elements into positioning, messaging, thought leadership, and content that reaches the people you want to serve, teach, influence, or engage.
And that’s where I can help.
My Approach
Your expertise may be stronger than the way it is currently being articulated.
Many faculty, researchers, and academic leaders have important ideas but limited time, structure, or support for turning those ideas into public-facing thought leadership. They may have articles, lectures, research projects, books, talks, interviews, or program materials, but no clear system for shaping those ideas into content that reaches broader audiences.
Instead, the work often stays scattered across academic publications, event pages, bios, reports, newsletters, media quotes, or one-off announcements.
Let’s get your expertise out of your head, your classroom, your research agenda, or your institutional materials — and in front of the audiences who can learn from it, use it, support it, or be changed by it.
Extract
We start with an interview where I learn more about your background, expertise, research, teaching, leadership, public-facing goals, and the ideas you most want to be known for.
Interpret
Then I interpret that expertise through the lens of your audience, institution, field, and larger conversation: what will resonate, what will clarify your point of view, what will differentiate your work, and what deserves to become part of your public voice.
Articulate
Finally, I show you how to articulate that expertise into thought leadership, content, messaging frameworks, and practical editorial direction you or your team can apply consistently.
You Receive…
clearer articulation of your distinctive expertise and point of view
messaging that explains what you want to be known for
a thought leadership strategy you can apply immediately
stronger content direction for articles, op-eds, newsletters, LinkedIn posts, talks, interviews, web copy, or other public-facing content
messaging frameworks for faculty bios, center/institute pages, program materials, or communications efforts
a more effective way to connect your ideas with the audiences you want to reach
greater confidence that your expertise is being communicated clearly
Work With Me
Messaging & Positioning Critique
Not ready for a full intensive? Start with a Messaging & Positioning Critique and gain an outsider’s perspective on what your current materials are really saying.
I review your outward-facing materials — website copy, bio, faculty profile, center or institute page, program materials, articles, newsletters, social presence, or other relevant content — and identify what your work currently appears to stand for, where the message is clear, and where your expertise may be getting lost.
You’ll receive an editorial strategy letter with:
what your messaging currently signals
where your point of view is clear or unclear
where differentiation is strong or underdeveloped
what may feel internally meaningful but externally muddy
where audience resonance may be missing
what to clarify or strengthen first
Rate: Starts at $1,000.
Thought Leadership Design Intensive
This intensive is designed to extract, interpret, and articulate your expertise into clearer messaging, positioning, and thought leadership strategy. We’ll turn your knowledge, ideas, research, or leadership perspective into a practical direction for public-facing content you or your team can begin using immediately.
Process:
You’ll submit an intake questionnaire telling me about your current thought leadership, positioning, or content challenges.
I’ll review your outward-facing materials to see what message, expertise, or point of view you are currently presenting to the world.
In a 60-minute intensive, I’ll learn more about your background, expertise, goals, audience, and unique point of view, as well as talk through what’s working and what’s not in your current messaging.
I’ll create a thought leadership and positioning strategy document with refined messaging, content direction, and frameworks you can use across articles, op-eds, talks, interviews, newsletters, LinkedIn posts, website copy, or other relevant channels.
We’ll connect on a second call to go over the materials and answer any remaining questions.
Rate: Starts at $3,000.
